Cross The Bridge and save a life! Whether you are an artist, gallery, gallery director, or a collector with a breast cancer connection, partner with Art for the Bridge. Art For The Bridge
raises funds for The Bridge Breast Network, a nonprofit organization that links uninsured and underinsured individuals to life-saving breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Submitting a work of fine art from your portfolio, gallery, or personal collection, will help save a life. Accepted donors will have the option to retain a portion of the proceeds generated by the sale of their donated works. Artwork will be auctioned on September 13, 2008 at the historical Women’s Museum in Dallas, Texas. There is no entry fee. Additionally, accepted artwork
submitted by artists with a connection to breast cancer will be published in a coffee table book in 2009 and sold in stores and galleries across Texas. Artists without a breast cancer connection
will be mentioned as 2008 Art for the Bridge Artists.
1. Eligibility
Resume must accompany all submissions. Student artists are not required to submit a resume. Those who have a connection to breast cancer are encouraged to submit a story.
Artist must be classified in one of the following categories:
Outstanding Student
Any college student 18 years or older and enrolled in an Associates, Bachelors or Masters degree program in Fine Art, whose artwork displays outstanding creative thought, technique and craftsmanship.
Art For The Bridge Art Auction Outstanding Student entries require a letter of recommendation from a college art professor.
Emerging Artist
Any serious practicing artist, whose work is frequently included in juried or group exhibitions. Artist shows a dedicated interest in developing a voice in their work, where growth in fine
art ability is noted.
Recognized Artist
Any artist that has had at least two solo shows and has been in several group shows, including exhibitions in galleries, non-profits, or museums.
Established Artist
Any artist whose work is part of museum, public or private collections. Artist has achieved a defined voice in his/her work. Artist’s work is published in catalogues funded by an outside
source such as a gallery, corporate sponsor, museum or non-profit entity. Artist’s work has been critically reviewed and published in art periodicals or newspapers.
2. Artwork Requirements
Any 2-D and 3-D artwork in any medium may be submitted. Only one image will be reviewed. Artwork may not exceed 60”x 60”. 3-D art must be less than 300 lbs.
3. Art Submission
Entries will be handled online. There is no fee to enter. Artists are encouraged to submit a 200-word breast cancer connection essay. In addition, your contribution and participation will
be national recognized. A campaign is being developed that will focus on expanding awareness of Art For The Bridge along with finding artists and collectors with a breast cancer connection.
The art, artists, and their breast cancer connections will be featured in a coffee table book and sold in stores and galleries across Texas in 2009. SUBMISSIONS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN AUGUST 1, 2008, 5:00 PM.
4. Selection and Notification
To ensure that all donations are of the highest quality, each donation will be reviewed by the Art For The Bridge Selection Committee, a select panel of art experts. All donated art approved
by our Selection Committee will be formally catalogued with a minimum opening bid set at half of the retail price. All artists have an option to retain a portion of the proceeds generated
by the sale of their donated works. The portion donated to the auction is set by the artist. Donors will be notified via email by 5:00 PM on July, 23, 2008.
5. Framing
2-D art must be framed (unless gallery wrapped), securely wired and ready to hang. Glass is used at the artists risk. Display stands will be provided for 3-D art.
6. Delivery of Accepted Works of Art
Shipped entries must be received by August 8, 2008 by 5:00 PM at The Women’s Museum located at 3800 Parry Avenue Dallas, TX 75226. Hand delivered artwork will be accepted on Tuesday,
August 5 – Friday, August 8 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. All works must be labeled on the back of the piece “Art For The Bridge” and include artist, title, medium, size and
value. Artist should insure their work. Art For The Bridge and The Women’s Museum will not be responsible for any loss or damage. Artwork will be photographed for the coffee table book
and remain in the possession of the Women’s Museum until completion of the event.
7. Sales
Donors will receive documentation of sold works from Art For The Bridge Fund suitable for tax purposes. Artwork that is not sold at auction will remain in possession of Art For The Bridge
for 90 days. All agreements between Art For The Bridge Art Auction and the donor of the work will be honored. After 90 days the artist, gallery or collector will be notified and will have
10 days to pick up the work art or to have it shipped at their expense.
8. Liability
Art For The Bridge Art Auction and The Women’s Museum will not be responsible for loss or damage to any work of art. By submitting an Art For The Bridge entry form the donor agrees
to all terms and conditions. Permission to reproduce an artist’s work for publicity purposes is assumed with acceptance. Art For The Bridge reserves the right to reject any works of
art not meeting eligibility requirements or that are deemed inappropriate to hang in The Women’s Museum.
